The Haría City Council has decreed a new closure of the bathing area between the natural pools of El Cura and El Pichón, in Punta Mujeres, due to a new discharge of sewage.

The prohibition will remain until further notice, once the health authorities guarantee the healthiness of the area and that there is no risk to the well-being and health of people.

As on the previous occasion, when a spill occurred on January 29, the Haría City Council has again forwarded the notice to the Security and Emergency Consortium of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the Seprona, the company Canal Gestión and the Water Consortium of Lanzarote to resolve the reasons that are causing these repeated spills.

The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, demands that the water infrastructures in the area be reviewed to avoid a new episode that puts the health of bathers and the image of one of the most visited bathing areas in the north of Lanzarote at risk.
