The 5-year-old boy evacuated by helicopter this Thursday after suffering a drowning at a hotel in Playa Blanca has died, according to Radio Televisión Canaria.

The incident took place around 1:45 p.m. this Thursday, September 3, when the minor was pulled from the hotel complex's pool with signs of drowning and in cardiorespiratory arrest, and both the facility's lifeguard, a doctor, and other people present performed resuscitation maneuvers.

When the healthcare personnel arrived at the scene, they continued with advanced resuscitation maneuvers that managed to recover his pulse.

He was subsequently evacuated in critical condition by a medical helicopter to the Gran Canaria Mother and Child University Hospital. The boy remained admitted to the hospital center, but ultimately could not overcome his critical condition and died.
