The tourist boat 'El Majorero', sank this Saturday, September 16, during the journey between Isla de Lobos and Corralejo, in the north of Fuerteventura. The accident occurred at around 2:25 p.m., during an excursion of the 47 passengers and another five crew members who were traveling on the boat. Everyone had to be evacuated, although they did not suffer personal injuries, EFE news agency has been informed.
After their evacuation, they were transferred to the coast by the Celia Cruz boat, according to sources from the Nortur shipping company owned by El Majorero to the agency. According to the shipping company's sources, some of the passengers, after being rescued, "chose to stay on the islet, while others decided to return to Corralejo."
Apparently, the boat sank when the glass on the bottom of the boat collided with the rocks on the seabed, due to sailing very close to the coast, one of the witnesses informs La Voz.
The boat is located on La Concha beach on Isla de Lobos, a place where it had traveled for a tourist excursion, EFE reports.
