The Local Police of Arrecife have reported four drivers in recent days for various traffic offenses. According to reports from the City Council, two of them did not have a driver's license, while the other two were driving under the influence of alcohol.
The latest intervention took place this Monday, when the driver caused a traffic accident after colliding with two parked vehicles. When subjected to alcohol testing, he showed a result that tripled the maximum permitted rate, so he was brought to justice accused of a crime against road safety, for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages. The driver could face prison sentences of three to six months and deprivation of the right to drive for one to four years.
Likewise, the Local Police detail that during the past weekend, another three drivers were brought to justice. The first of them, after being intercepted by agents of the National Police and showing symptoms of being under the influence of alcoholic beverages, and refusing before the agents of the Local Police to carry out the mandatory alcohol tests. In this case, the driver faces a higher prison sentence, ranging from six months to one year in prison and deprivation of the right to drive for one to four years.
For their part, the other two drivers are being investigated for not having a driver's license. The first was caught driving a motorcycle through a pedestrian zone. The second, according to the Local Police, was stopped at a traffic checkpoint, where agents found that he had lost all the points on his license.
