The workers of the Arrecife Animal Protection Center rescued a dog abandoned in front of the facilities' door on Tuesday night, as they published on their social media.
The events occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, when they located the animal tied with a rope to a lamppost next to the door and, as they express from the center, "leaving as if their life had no value."
This abandonment took place on the same day that International Dog Day was celebrated, in which these animals are honored for the companionship and affection they provide us, but also to raise awareness about their abandonment and the mistreatment they suffer on many occasions.
As informed to La Voz by the Arrecife Animal Protection Center, the dog does not present health problems, but he was very scared at the time of the rescue.
Now, the animal is in the center's facilities awaiting adoption by a new family.
From the center, they ask people to "reflect on what it means to have an animal: it is not an object that one can get rid of when it is no longer convenient. It is a living being that depends completely on us."
"The best tribute we can pay to dogs is not to dedicate a day on the calendar to them, but to care for and respect them every day of the year. This is the reality of what we live day by day," they concluded.
