The animal and plant shelter Sara has expressed its "most absolute condemnation and rejection" of the murder of Timple, the dog that died of asphyxiation in Teguise.

"We have spent years trying to help Timple, earning his trust, setting traps to catch him, cornering him and we could never get close enough. Now we feel that we have failed him, that we could have done more, that we wish these people had warned us when he entered their house and instead of mourning his death we would be celebrating that we could finally heal his wound. The pain has taken over all of us who love animals on this island," they say from Sara.

Finally, from the shelter they point out that they understand that "the fight against animal abuse must be a collective and joint cause" and that we must "continue to raise awareness among citizens in order to move towards a culture of respect for all living beings."

However, Sara also believes that "the current Animal Protection Law of this country should be toughened so that those responsible for atrocities like the one we regret today pay for it, serve prison sentences and can never have animals again."
