The Civil Guard has identified and is investigating a man as the alleged perpetrator of the death of a dog, whose decapitated head was found outside the home of the animal's owners, in the Tenerife municipality of Tegueste.

The Civil Guard has carried out an investigation following the complaint filed by the dog's owner, and in which the participation of the agents of the Main Post of Tacoronte and the patrol of the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) has been "vital," according to the armed institute in a note.

The coordinated work in obtaining evidence and clues, together with the technical reports of the Seprona specialists, allowed the dog's body to be located and obtain a probative load that has led to the identification and investigation of the alleged perpetrator, accused of a crime of animal abuse resulting in death.

This serious criminal act has caused great social alarm among citizens, the Civil Guard recalled.

The proceedings have been made available to the Investigating Court of La Laguna.
