The Cabildo of Lanzarote held a first meeting this Monday with military commanders of the Air Rescue Service (SAR) of the Canary Islands, for the organization of a large emergency simulation exercise, called CANASAR, which is expected to be held in May.

On behalf of the SAR, the colonel of the Lanzarote Air Command, Nicolás Ramírez Arregui, the commander of the Canary Air Rescue Coordination Center (RCC Canarias), José María Cambero Bueno, the head of Operations and Brigade of the RCC Canarias, José Luis Cánovas Liza, and Víctor Manuel Marcos Delgado, brigade of the RCC Canarias, attended. All of them were received first by the vice president of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, who conveyed the institution's willingness to collaborate with these exercises.

Subsequently, the representatives of the SAR held a first working meeting with councilors from the seven municipalities of the island, the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Francisco Javier Aparicio, and members of the various emergency bodies such as firefighters and local police, to begin to outline the details of the exercise, which will simulate a major air accident and will take place in May at some point in Lanzarote.
