The island of Lanzarote suffers water cuts in several parts of the island. This has been reported by Canal Gestión, the company in charge of managing this resource on the island, through its website.
The Minister of Water of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Domingo Cejas, has assured that the two portable desalination plants that arrived from La Palma last September are not yet working. "They are not working at full capacity. They are working, doing tests," Cejas began. "There is an administrative procedure prior to the start-up itself. We are trying day by day to put this into full operation," he added.
"We have done the tests, the health tests already done and let's see if the situation is finally unblocked. We still do not have the 5,000 cubic meters in the network," confesses the Minister of Water of the Cabildo.
Regarding the cuts suffered during the day this Thursday, in the municipality of Haría the areas that suffer an "eventual interruption" of the supply are the access to Mala and Vista de la Vega street.
Meanwhile, in the municipality of Teguise, El Ciprés street, Santa Catalina avenue, La Canela street and Gustavo Adolfo Becker street remain without water.
In San Bartolomé, the areas of La Cañada street and Margarita Martín street are the ones that remain without supply.
In Tías, the affected spaces are Camino Cercado de Babilon, and Camino El Hornillo. To conclude, in Yaiza there is also no water in Avenida Marítima-El Golfo street.
In this line, Canal Gestión has assured that "the time to solve this type of incidents cannot be specified, given its technical and operational characteristics, and also the consumption that is being registered at that time."
Regarding the restrictions in the areas of reclaimed water supply, this Thursday, November 16, Tinajo will not receive the corresponding supply. According to Canal Gestión, this inconvenience is due to "problems with the capacity of reserves in Montaña Mina", which is the corresponding supply to this area.
The reclaimed water supply in El Monte could not be used either due to "technical problems that prevent production at the Arrecife Wastewater Treatment Plant, at the moment it is impossible to supply the central area of the island with reclaimed water."
