The NGO Spanish Red Cross in Lanzarote reported yesterday that throughout Monday they had received several notices alarming about the presence of hundreds of jellyfish on several beaches of Puerto del Carmen.

These organisms, which live within the mass of water and have almost no connection with the bottom, floating on the surface, wreaked havoc yesterday causing stings to bathers. Specifically, the Red Cross pointed out that until 8:00 p.m. they had received more than 25 calls requesting assistance.

In addition, the lifeguards of the NGO located at the site of the alarm attended on the beach in Puerto del Carmen to those who suffered the caresses of these organisms, whose action also motivated the transfer to medical centers of at least 3 children who were affected.
