A hiker of about 70 years old and of Dutch nationality had to be rescued this Thursday, November 27, in the Caldera Blanca area, in the municipality of Tinajo, after being injured in an area of difficult access. The alert was received at 12:38 PM, at which time EMERLAN activated an emergency operation after being alerted to a possible fracture in one of the woman's limbs.

The NGO mobilized the ambulance located in Famara and a Rapid Intervention Vehicle (VIR) with members of the High Altitude Rescue Unit, immediately heading to the location. Once in the area, the teams collaborated with the helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) and with the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium.

According to the Consortium's details, the affected person presented with a sprained left ankle and pain in the left upper extremity. The personnel proceeded to immobilize her with an ankle splint and place her on a stretcher with a vacuum mattress to facilitate her aerial evacuation.

The hiker was extracted by the GES MI-21 helicopter and transferred to the Consortium park, where an ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) took charge of her transfer to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital

Once the evacuation was completed, EMERLAN teams began their descent along the path, accompanying the affected person's family members to the parking lot, ensuring their safety. The Local Police of Tinajo also collaborated throughout the entire operation.
