A man has reported to the Civil Guard that he was attacked by the owner of a bar in Playa Honda, after saying that he did not like a sandwich he had consumed in the premises.
According to the complaint, the events took place on Friday afternoon, after J.J. entered the bar to eat a roasted leg sandwich. When ordering, he says he asked the waitress if it "was homemade or from the supermarket", to which she replied that "they made it".
However, he points out that when they served him the sandwich, he realized that "it was not homemade" and that he told the waitress that this "was not what he had ordered". "But nothing, I ate the sandwich, drank the beer, paid the bill and went to the bar next door," the complainant said in statements to La Voz.
Once there and while he was "smoking a cigarette outside" and making "a video call" with his daughter, he says that the owner of the bar where he had eaten the sandwich arrived and stood in front of him. "I told him to wait, that I was talking, and then he started insulting me and pushed me," says J.J., who claims that he then fell "into the pit of a palm tree" and that "once on the ground" the man started kicking and punching him.
"He told me that I was disrespecting his food and insulting the waitress," says J.J., who claims that he only said that "the sandwich was not what he expected."
According to J.J., the aggression stopped because the owner of the bar where he was and a customer "took his aggressor off him." "My daughter was on a video call watching everything and she was freaking out, just like the people who saw it," says the complainant.
"I have eaten in many places and I comment on things in many places. If I don't like something, I tell the owner, but I have never been laid hands on in my life," adds J.J. "And it's not that I ate the sandwich and left without paying, it's that I paid for what they had given me," he says.
After the events, he says he called the Civil Guard, but they told him that "they were going to take a while" and that he better leave there and go to have a medical report made and report the events. Thus, he points out that he first went to the Valterra health center and later filed the complaint at the San Bartolomé barracks.
According to the medical report, J.J. presented bruises and abrasions on his arms and legs. "The worst was on the elbow, which he grabbed well, and it is swollen and with a scrape," he concludes.
