The National Police have arrested five young people, one of them a minor, as alleged perpetrators of four robbery offenses in different educational centers in Arrecife. Of the other four arrested, who are 18, 19, 21 and 25 years old, two of them have numerous police records. They were caught red-handed leaving one of the centers at dawn. In addition, two other people were arrested as alleged perpetrators of a crime of "receiving stolen goods".

Between September 4 and 7, 2015, robberies were reported in three educational centers in Arrecife, all of them committed using the same 'modus operandi', the Police explained. "The perpetrators, after entering through some of the windows of the centers, proceeded to force the cabinets where the computer equipment was located, stealing them".

Faced with these complaints, a police device was activated, which led to the fact that in the early morning of September 8, police officers detected a young man leaving a school through a hole in the fence of the compound. Upon noticing the police presence, the young man alerted three other individuals who were inside and who fled in different directions from the place, one of them being able to be arrested.

Upon entering the building, the agents found a computer equipment with its accessories lying in the courtyard. "In the search carried out in the classrooms, a minor was found hidden under a table, proceeding to his arrest," they explain.

Arrest of the 3 fugitives and 2 more people

Subsequently, and as a result of the police investigation carried out, the identification and arrest of the other three alleged perpetrators of these robberies was achieved. Thus, the investigators consider the five detainees responsible for the three robberies perpetrated in educational centers in Arrecife on the previous days, in which a total of 24 laptops and a music equipment were stolen.

Likewise, two other people were arrested as alleged perpetrators of a crime of "receiving stolen objects". Several of the stolen effects have been recovered, which have already been delivered to those responsible for the centers.

Once the police report was prepared, the adult detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered their release with charges. As for the detained minor, the Police reported to the Prosecutor's Office for minors of "everything done" in this regard.
