Firefighters closed public access to the Arrieta walkway this Sunday, after a technician from the Security and Emergency Consortium issued a negative report warning of the danger of one of the railings. Apparently, it was in "poor condition", and with a series of loose screws that led to the sealing of the walkway.
This has been explained by the Security and Emergency Consortium, who went to the northern beach this Sunday. The acting mayor of Haría, Pepe Torres, has stated in statements to La Voz that the City Council "has nothing to do" with the closure of the walkway, and that it is a "technical problem."
However, despite the fact that it was this Sunday when the firefighters sealed off the walkway, the Consortium assures La Voz that the Haría City Council had been prohibiting people from passing through "for a week", as a preventive measure against a possible accident due to the situation of the walkway.
The Security Consortium assures that the deficiencies found in the Arrieta walkway are "small", and that since the Haría City Council corrects the damage, the Cabildo technician will return to check that there is no danger in the place and, therefore, it could be reopened to the public. Regarding this possible reopening, Pepe Torres points out that "the technicians will decide when and how the damage can be corrected", and that from there the City Council will make the decisions to reopen or not the walkway.
