Firefighters from Lanzarote have flown to Tenerife on Wednesday afternoon to help in the extinguishing of the fire that is hitting the island. In total, five members of the Security and Emergency Consortium have moved to the capital island.
More than 1,600 hectares have already been devoured by the flames of a fire that continues to be out of control. A 3,500-liter BRP, a 4x4 vehicle and two more firefighters will also be transferred there this Thursday. This has been reported by the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
Already during their first day collaborating in extinguishing the flames, the troops from Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and the Military Emergency Unit (UME) have helped to evacuate the town of Las Rosas and protect the homes from the fire.
Likewise, the forest fire declared in Tenerife on Tuesday night has already entered the upper area of the municipality of La Orotava, making a total of six municipalities affected by this fire: Candelaria, Arafo El Rosario, La Victoria, Santa Úrsula and La Orotava.
