Firefighters have controlled this Thursday the outbreak of the fire at the Zonzamas landfill. As reported by the Security and Emergency Consortium, emergency personnel approached the area at approximately 6:37 a.m.
After being notified of a fire at the landfill, they arrived at the scene and found that the flames were being controlled with "excavating machines by the method of suffocation with the help of earth," they reported. So immediately afterwards, they had to soak the affected area with water.
The Emergency Consortium has clarified that these are the outbreaks created after the fire that will occur in the coming weeks due to the existing material that has not been definitively extinguished, especially below the surface.
It should be remembered that as La Voz published, the fire at the landfill, which occurred on Monday afternoon, was controlled last Tuesday, an information that was announced by the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, at a press conference on the morning of that same day.
