The Haría City Council has carried out this Wednesday an "exhaustive" inspection work in the areas and streets affected by the recent cases of dog poisoning.
In this task, the dogs of the Canine Unit for the detection of poison have collaborated, who have moved from Fuerteventura, as well as technicians from the Government of the Canary Islands, the Ministry of Environment of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, and agents of the Seprona and the Local Police.
After an "exhaustive search" carried out by the animals and the team of experts in the areas where the dogs were poisoned, "no trace of the toxic used has been detected", according to the Consistory. Specifically, the urban area of the town of Haría has been searched, in which several dogs died last week poisoned after, apparently, ingesting remains of meat and/or feed contaminated with a potent toxic, and the rural area of Guinate, place of the last case of poisoning.
The Councilor of the Area, Marcos Lemes, has stated that "sadly it is an intentional act that has caused a lot of damage, so from the city council we will continue working to identify the author or authors of this ruthless action and we will continue putting all the means that are necessary to clarify the origin of the poisoning."
Likewise, from the Department of Animal Welfare and Health they have thanked the collaboration of the Local Police of Haría, as well as environmental agents, the Seprona of Lanzarote and the Government of the Canary Islands who, from the first moment, showed their "total predisposition" to determine the causes of these poisonings. In addition, thanks to this collaboration, the dogs of the Canine Unit for the detection of poisons have been able to move to Haría.
