A joint emergency operation allowed this Friday afternoon to rescue a person who was disoriented between Playa del Cochino and Las Malvas, in the municipality of Yaiza.
The alert was received around 6:30 p.m. by the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (CECOES), which immediately activated the Lanzarote Firefighters and the Yaiza Local Police. Two municipal agents near the place collaborated with the firefighters in the first search efforts on the coast of El Golfo, a difficult to access environment and marked by the volcanic terrain.
To expand the location radius, the fire department deployed a drone that flew over the area until the arrival of the helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES). After coordinating both aerial devices, it was decided to remove the drone to facilitate the maneuvers of the helicopter, which finally managed to locate the person and proceed to their evacuation to a safe point.
