The device deployed by the Civil Guard to search for the body of Romina Celeste Núñez has taken the agents to the Los Hervideros area this Monday afternoon, where the husband reportedly confessed to throwing her body. Divers from the Underwater Activities Specialists Group have been searching the area, although so far the search has yielded results and the deployed teams have withdrawn at sunset.
In any case, the device will continue to search the coast on Tuesday, both in this and in other points that would have been indicated by the detainee, Raúl D.C. His arrest occurred this Sunday, five days after he reported the disappearance of his wife, which had actually occurred a week before.
At the time, the husband stated that he had not reported it before because he believed that she had left home voluntarily. According to that first version, they were having a fight when he left home during the early morning of January 1 and when he returned the next day she was gone. However, after his arrest he changed his statement and stated that upon returning home he found her dead and decided to hide the body "out of fear", although he continued to deny having participated in her death.
In addition, in his statement he would have explained in detail how he got rid of the body, which he would later have thrown into the sea, although now the Civil Guard is investigating the veracity of that story. For the moment, the search has begun in Los Hervideros, although it will continue this Tuesday in other points as well.
Agents from the Underwater Activities Specialists Group (GEAS), the Provincial Maritime Service and the Civil Guard helicopter based in Fuerteventura are participating in the search.
