The Lanzarote Island Council's Security and Emergency Consortium intervened on Sunday afternoon, February 22, in the rescue of a cat that had become trapped in a water tank located opposite the Zonzamas landfill, in the town of Tahíche, municipality of Teguise.
The operation began at 6:03 PM after a report from a private citizen who alerted that they heard meows coming from a small pond near the environmental complex.
Upon the arrival of the officers, they verified that the animal was inside a cistern approximately four meters deep, on top of some stones. To proceed with its rescue, the firefighters descended using a ladder to the bottom.
According to reports from the Consortium, the cat was very weak, so it is suspected that it could have been trapped inside the cistern for several days.
Once rescued, the animal was handed over to an operator from the public company Gesplan, after which the service was concluded.
