As a result of international collaboration, the Guardia Civil of Las Palmas, together with the NCA's Joint International Crime Center and the Nottinghamshire Police, has arrested a British citizen accused of repeated sexual assaults on a British minor.
The detainee had left the United Kingdom without appearing for trial on charges related to sexual violence. After the British authorities issued the corresponding international arrest warrant, an investigation was launched that made it possible to locate the fugitive on the island of Lanzarote, where agents of the Judicial Police of Las Palmas were able to arrest him and bring him before the courts before he left our country.
He is currently in pre-trial detention awaiting extradition to the United Kingdom.
This operation highlights the relevance of a swift activation of international cooperation mechanisms between Spain and the United Kingdom, emphasizing that police collaboration between countries not only strengthens justice systems but also ensures that fugitives do not find refuge in impunity for their actions. Furthermore, there is a firm commitment from the Civil Guard in the fight against sexual violence.
