Authors identified in assault on minor in the Canary Islands that was spread on social media

The National Police **has identified the perpetrators of the assault on a minor** in Santa Cruz de la Palma and has forwarded the relevant information to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office and Social Services.

In this way, the police force **has concluded the investigation** related to the images recently disseminated on social networks and picked up by various media outlets about the assault suffered by a minor in Santa Cruz de La Palma, the National Police detailed this Thursday in a statement.

The events occurred on October 23 in an area near the Maritime Port of the capital of La Palma, where a video was recorded showing **a girl being assaulted by other minors**, while a group of teenagers yelled at her.

After observing the aforementioned video, investigators carried out the necessary actions to identify all the people present at the incident.

Thanks to the collaboration of educational centers and the analysis of the provided material, it was possible to locate the minors involved and accurately determine the facts, which **did not cause serious injuries to the victim**, the Police state.

It adds that after being located, the minor was interviewed in the presence of her parents, who confirmed that there were no physical injuries and **expressed their willingness for the situation to be addressed within the educational and family sphere, given the usual relationship between the families and the minors**.

In parallel, reports were requested from the educational services and the Social Services of the Cabildo de La Palma in order to rule out the existence of other episodes or risk indicators that would require additional action.

So far, **no circumstances exceeding what has already been investigated have been detected**, the security force points out.

Once the police proceedings are finalized, all the information has been sent to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office and the case has also been transferred to Social Services to ensure the adequate attention and follow-up of the minors and their families.

The National Police reminds that, as these are events involving minors, the highest level of protection of their identity applies, and therefore, social responsibility is requested in the dissemination of images or content that may violate their rights.
