National Police agents have arrested a 34-year-old woman after allegedly concealing an advanced pregnancy and disposing of the fetus in a garbage container.
The events became known on April 21, when the woman went to the hospital with heavy uterine bleeding and was referred to the Gynecology area.
There, the medical staff detected that she had been 34 weeks pregnant and showed no signs of attended delivery. The situation activated the police protocol on suspicion that the fetus had been hidden. During the interviews, the woman admitted to having suffered a hemorrhage in her home and having introduced the biological remains into a garbage bag, which she threw into a nearby container.
The National Police, in collaboration with the staff of the Zonzamas landfill, carried out an exhaustive search in the waste transferred from the indicated container, without managing to locate the body. The impossibility of examining the remains made it impossible to clarify with certainty whether it was a spontaneous or induced abortion.
The woman, who did not communicate her condition to family members or seek medical attention during pregnancy or childbirth, was arrested and placed at the disposal of the court. The duty judge ordered her release with charges, while new lines of investigation remain open.
