The rapid action of the Local Police of Arrecife allowed the arrest, last February 24, of a 32-year-old male as the alleged perpetrator of a gender violence crime in a home in the Lanzarote capital. The intervention occurred thanks to the alert of a caller who, upon hearing the cries for help from a woman during a strong argument, decided to contact the emergency services.

It was around 4:50 p.m. when the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) received the call from this person, who was alerting that inside a home a woman was heard asking for help. Given the seriousness of the described events, several police units were immediately dispatched.

The agents moved urgently to the scene, prioritizing the protection of the possible victim and the immediate cessation of any risk situation. Once at the dwelling, they interviewed both parties separately to guarantee the freedom of their statements.

Initially, the woman was cautious and downplayed what happened, calling it a minor argument, without initially acknowledging the injuries she had. However, the officers noticed visible marks consistent with a recent assault.

During the intervention, the male admitted to having held the woman by the neck during the discussion. In view of the observed evidence and the statements gathered, his arrest was proceeded with.

Likewise, it was verified that the arrested person had in force an order to leave Spain, a circumstance that was incorporated into the police report along with the graphic documentation of the injuries.
