National Police agents have arrested a 24-year-old youth at Lanzarote airport as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of document forgery. The arrested man, of Albanian nationality, tried to take a flight to Dublin identifying himself with a falsified Bulgarian document.

The events unfolded after staff from an airline notified police officers at Lanzarote airport, reporting that a person was trying to board a flight to Dublin showing apparently manipulated documentation.

The police officers identified a man, and were able to verify that the document was false and lacked the required security measures, so he was arrested by the agents as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of document forgery.

According to the National Police, the detainee, once in police custody, "voluntarily stated that his true nationality was Albanian." Thus, once the corresponding report was prepared, he was placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
