Ademal has denounced a new case of “brutality and cruelty” against animals, after finding a dog with its snout closed with adhesive tape “because it barked too much”. In addition, he assures that the animal also had to wear an electric collar.
The association has already filed a complaint with the Haría City Council and the Local Police, and questions that the Consistory has not acted on this situation.
According to explains, it was a tourist who warned them of what was happening on a farm in Tabayesco. When volunteers from the association went to the place, they found seven dogs, podencos and other breeds, chained outdoors, with “habitats made of pallets and drums, which do not protect from the weather”, and surrounded “by dirt and garbage”.
In addition, they later saw the other podenco who had his snout closed with yellow tape. “It was squeezing his mouth so much that it was impossible to open it and he could run the risk of suffocating, causing his death”, the association warns in its complaint, in which it adds that the animal also had “extreme thinness”.
“It is not observed that they have food or water”, adds Ademal in the letter he has presented to the City Council, in which he urges the Consistory to carry out an inspection on the farm and to “confiscate” the animals, as established by Law in cases of mistreatment, malnutrition or improper facilities for their maintenance.
In the case of the gagged dog, Ademal clarifies that they have finally managed to get him to receive veterinary assistance, but warns that “he should not be allowed to return to his owner”, from whom he demands that all the animals be removed.
The association has also asked citizens to join this complaint, since it criticizes that the Local Police refused to act when they brought the facts to their attention. “What is the point of having a police force in Haría? What is the point of having a councilor who earns a lot of money every month? It is shameful what is happening in Haría”, he maintains.
