A 26-year-old woman was transferred this Wednesday afternoon in critical condition to the hospital after suffering an accident on the road from Yaiza to El Golfo. Apparently, the woman was thrown out and ended up under the front of the vehicle. When the emergency services arrived at the scene, she was in cardiorespiratory arrest, although she could be recovered.
A 34-year-old man was traveling with her and only suffered minor injuries. According to the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security, he had a fracture in one arm, and was also transferred by ambulance to the Molina Orosa hospital.
The incident occurred at around 4:00 p.m., when the vehicle overturned on this road. It was a lifeguard who was passing through the area who initiated basic resuscitation maneuvers, seeing that the young woman was in cardiorespiratory arrest. Later, agents of the Local Police arrived, who helped the lifeguard with the maneuvers, according to CECOES.
These were resumed later by the medical team that traveled from the health center, made up of a doctor and a nurse. Finally, when the medicalized ambulance arrived, it initiated advanced maneuvers and managed to reverse the arrest. Afterwards, she was in charge of transferring her to the hospital, where she was admitted "in critical condition."
Firefighters from the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium also attended the scene of the accident, who were in charge of securing the vehicle and collaborating with the rest of the intervening services.
