A young man ended up with a broken jaw after a fight that took place on Saturday night at the Puerto del Carmen festival, on the occasion of Carnival. According to sources close to the case, the Lanzarote native will have to undergo surgery at the Negrín Hospital in Gran Canaria.
Apparently, this young man tried to defend a friend who had been hit by a third person, according to these same sources. However, he ended up receiving a punch in the face that broke his jaw.
The young man left the festival and went to sleep. The next day he saw that his whole face was swollen and he had a strong pain in his jaw. He went to the hospital and there they confirmed that it was broken.
The Lanzarote native will be operated on in the hospital of Gran Canaria and has already filed a complaint with the Civil Guard in Puerto del Carmen.
The Local Police of Tías stated this Monday to La Voz that only "some small unimportant fights" had taken place during the Carnival of Puerto del Carmen. In addition, they insisted that, with respect to the previous year, there had been fewer incidents.
