A vehicle caught fire after the engine belt broke in Arrecife, according to the Emergency Consortium. The incident occurred at approximately 13:37; near the Maneje gas station.
Firefighters went to the scene and found smoke coming from the engine part of the van, so they applied a CO2 extinguisher through the hood vents and then opened the vehicle using specific opening material. At that moment, the driver arrived and explained that a belt had broken on the vehicle and he himself had disconnected the battery.
Subsequently, the emergency personnel opened the hood and applied water to the engine to cool it down and stop it from smoking.
