Around 10:00 a.m. this Saturday, an accident occurred when a Tiadhe company bus rear-ended a heavy truck on the FV-20 near the Zurita Environmental Complex, Puerto del Rosario.

According to the Security and Emergency Coordinator of the Island Council, Francisco Torres, "the collision was clean and there were 6 injured, apparently of a minor nature, and one seriously injured," who turned out to be the bus driver.

Torres highlighted that the Puerto del Rosario Fire Department was needed to "free the bus driver" from the wreckage. Once freed, he was examined by the health personnel who arrived at the scene of the accident, who confirmed the severity of his health condition after diagnosing a traumatic brain injury and a broken femur.

The bus driver, as well as the rest of the injured, have already been transferred to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura and the Health Center of Puerto del Rosario.

Personnel from the Civil Guard Traffic Unit, Local Police of Puerto del Rosario, Firefighters of Puerto del Rosario, and several ambulances from the Canary Emergency Service, SUC, as well as road cleaning operators from the Island Council of Fuerteventura, were transferred to the site of the collision. According to Civil Guard sources, traffic on the FV-20 has already been restored.
