The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Costa Teguise investigated on October 6 a resident of the municipality of Teguise, 41 years old, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of simulation of crime, by faking fraudulent charges in his bank account.

The investigations began as a result of the man's complaints, who on September 25 reported at the headquarters of the Main Post of Tías that someone had made fraudulent charges to his bank account between July and September, through his credit card, for a total amount of 59.28 euros.

However, the police investigations carried out by the Investigation area of the Main Post of Costa Teguise allowed to gather the necessary evidence to prove that it was a false complaint, knowing the agents that the complainant had requested a loan from a lender.

The investigated has been made available to the corresponding Court, in guard functions, of the town of Arrecife.

Penalties for the simulation of crime

The Civil Guard reminds that the simulation of a crime can carry penalties ranging from six months to two years in prison, or fines ranging from three to 24 months, depending on the level of severity of the false crime and false accusations to third parties.

In addition, it is pointed out that this type of complaints cause "a serious damage to the police units that receive them, since they motivate the consumption of a series of personnel, time and material resources, considerably affecting the normal development of the investigations that are carried out for real events".
