National Police agents have arrested a 36-year-old man in Arrecife, thanks to citizen collaboration, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health after finding a marijuana plantation in the storage room of his home, seizing a total of 2,600 grams of said substance, in addition to cocaine, two precision scales, a mobile phone, a knife, various materials for growing cannabis and cash. The arrested man, of Dominican nationality, has a police record, three of them for similar events.
The investigation began after various information received by police officers from citizens, regarding a possible marijuana plantation in a storage room located in Arrecife. The agents were able to verify that an intense smell of marijuana emanated from the aforementioned storage room belonging to a home whose resident already had a police record for crimes against public health.
These events, together with other investigated indications, were brought to the attention of the competent judicial authority, who ordered the entry and search of the home and its storage room. In the house, the police officers seized two precision scales, a knife, a mobile phone, cocaine, documentation and cash.
The interior of the storage room housed an artificial greenhouse with a marijuana plantation, where the agents seized a total of 2,600 grams of said substance in addition to materials for its cultivation.
For all these reasons, the police officers proceeded to arrest the resident of the home, who had numerous police records, three of them for events of similar characteristics. After the corresponding police report was prepared, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
