House fire in Arrecife

A fire in a house in Arrecife has forced the evacuation of six people, two of them minors, from the roof of the building. One of the adults has been transferred by ambulance to the Molina Orosa Hospital due to smoke inhalation.

The fire occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. this Sunday on María Lasso Street. After being alerted by 112, firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium, agents from the Local Police and the National Police, and an ambulance from the SUC have traveled to the scene.

The fire was on the first floor, but on the second floor there was a family, four adults and two children, who could not leave due to the heat and gases in the stairwell. Therefore, the firefighters evacuated them with the aerial ladder through a terrace.

According to the Consortium, the fire was located in a room where a large number of belongings were accumulated and the gases occupied the vast majority of the building. After extinguishing the fire and ventilating the building, the firefighters informed the occupants that it was not advisable to enter the building until it was cleaned and the damage was repaired.
