A family has reported to the Civil Guard the theft of nine pedigree dogs on their farm in Mozaga. The theft occurred in the early hours of this Thursday and their owners are desperate to know how their animals are. The dogs, all of them purebred, are valued at just over 10,000 euros.
This family is dedicated to breeding and selling dogs. Six of the nine animals that have been stolen are the "fathers and mothers", that is, the ones that their owners have had for the longest time and with whom "the business is done". They are called Pelusa, Rayo Mckeen, Tritón, Chispas, Camita and Gati. The other three are babies and do not yet have a name, since the oldest is only just over a month old.
Of the animals stolen, five are chihuahuas and three are yorksays. Gati is a mixed breed, but has been with the family for more than 16 years. "She is very important to us," says Teresa González with tears in her eyes. Her daughter, Raquel Espino, says that Camita is blind in one eye, so she requires more care.
This family noticed the disappearance of the animals this Friday at 7:00 a.m. "We got up and saw the six kennels open. We approached and saw that there were dogs loose on the farm. We realized that nine were missing," laments Teresa.
Between midnight and 4:00 a.m.
Her daughter estimates that the robbery occurred between midnight and 4:00 a.m. "I arrived home at about 12:00 a.m. and everything was in order. Four hours later my brother arrived. He noticed that some kennel was open, closed them and went to bed without giving it much importance," indicates Raquel.
In the morning, this family, who is now desperate, realized that their companion animals were missing. "They had to take them in a large vehicle because there are too many dogs," says Teresa.
All dogs have their card and their chip. Teresa and Raquel are now visiting all the veterinary clinics in Lanzarote in case the thief has made a stop on his way in any of these places. They trust that the police will return their animals and ask for help from the public in case they come across these dogs. If anyone has information about this event, the family asks that they contact the daughter, Raquel Espino, at the phone number 665 206 642.
