A fake occupational risk prevention technician who operated in Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria has been arrested.

The alleged scammer posed as a worker in the occupational risk prevention sector, requiring the payment of various amounts for the replacement of first-aid kits and signs to several establishments.

Fake occupational risk technician arrested

National Police agents have arrested in San Bartolomé de Tirajana a 43-year-old man, with a police record for similar events, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of fraud.

The investigation began as a result of complaints from several employees of different establishments, who reported that an individual who identified himself as a technician/inspector of occupational risk prevention, requested the payment of amounts between 60 and 750 euros for the replacement of first-aid kits or different signs. The arrested person gained the trust of the employees and assured them that their bosses or managers were aware of his visit.

The police investigation determined that at least 12 victims recognized this person as the alleged perpetrator of the scams, after being identified by them, managing to swindle more than 3,000 euros in the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote.

The police operation culminated in the arrest of a 43-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of fraud, who was located in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana and placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.

The investigation remains open and the appearance of new victims is not ruled out.
