A driver who did not have a driver's license, after losing all the points, and who was under the influence of alcohol crashed into a lamppost in Arrecife on Sunday night. The event took place on Olof Palme Street, near the police station of the capital's Local Police.
According to sources related to the investigation, the driver was five times over the alcohol limit, throwing a result of 0.88 and 0.99 in the two breathalyzer tests carried out. However, the lowest figure is taken as a reference to open the proceedings.
The driver was summoned to a quick trial for an alleged crime against road safety, for driving without a driver's license, testing positive for the breathalyzer test and causing a traffic accident, by crashing into the lamppost.
According to the Security and Emergency Consortium, firefighters had to go to the scene to clean the area, as the vehicle left a spill of about 100 meters and had to be neutralized with sepiolite.
