A 71-year-old man has died by drowning at Playa Grande in Puerto del Carmen. The event took place around 4:35 p.m. when CECOES received a call reporting that they had rescued an unconscious man from the sea.
The coordinating nurse of the Emergency Service, on duty in the emergency room, was the one who, through the telephone and with the information provided by the rescuer, was able to verify that the affected person was in cardiorespiratory arrest, so he indicated that they should proceed to perform basic resuscitation maneuvers.
A medicalized ambulance and a basic life support ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service, Local Police and Civil Guard have traveled to the scene.
Upon arrival, the SUC health personnel continued with basic and advanced maneuvers, without success, so they confirmed the death of the affected person.
The police services have been in charge of the corresponding procedures.
