69-year-old parking attendant arrested

The National Police arrested a 69-year-old parking attendant as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of damage and arson of a vehicle in Arrecife.

The event took place on Luis Fajardo Ferrer street, and according to the National Police, everything started due to discrepancies between residents and parking attendants in the area due to an easement, which caused a neighborhood conflict that lasted over time. The arrested person allegedly and intentionally set fire to a vehicle in a vacant lot in the area.

The agents went to the scene after receiving a call alerting them that a fire was taking place on the aforementioned street in the capital of Lanzarote, and the firefighters were in charge of extinguishing the burning vehicle.

The National Police indicate that at the scene of the fire there was a person who told the agents that the fire was caused by a well-known local, providing the physical characteristics of this individual.

Immediately afterwards, the agents initiated a police investigation that culminated in the full identification of the alleged perpetrator, who was located and arrested in Arrecife for the crime of damage and arson.

After the corresponding police report was prepared, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
