The Helicopter Unit (UHEL) of Fuerteventura and the Civil Guard Posts of Corralejo, Gran Tarajal and Costa Teguise located last October 26 a total of nine bundles of hashish, reaching 300 kilos, floating in the waters that make up the eastern coast of the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
The first finding occurred when the Civil Guard of Corralejo, through citizen collaboration, became aware of the presence of a strange package in the coastal area that borders the municipalities of Oliva and Puerto del Rosario. Once its content was verified, the Civil Guard intensified its surveillance by deploying the Helicopter Unit in the area.
This search resulted in the location of five more bundles, which were floating in the water or between the rocks, proceeding to land the device at the exact points of location to load them into the hold of the helicopter.
In addition, due to the effect of wind and tide, the Civil Guard of Tarajal in Fuerteventura and Costa Teguise in Lanzarote intervened two other packages of similar weight and size in the coastal area.
All the seized narcotic substance has been thoroughly inspected and is subject to an active police investigation in order to clarify the facts, leaving the drug at the disposal of the corresponding court on duty in Puerto del Rosario.
