National Police agents have arrested a 19-year-old male of foreign nationality, with numerous police records, for an alleged crime of serious injury to the driver of a vehicle circulating on a central street in the municipality of Arrecife. The victim suffered serious injuries to one hand while trying to defend himself from the aggressor, who was carrying a large knife.
The events occurred in the morning hours of Saturday, October 24, when, after an argument on the public highway, the detainee took out a knife and attacked the driver of a vehicle. Several people who were able to observe the events alerted the National Police to what had happened, and 091 received several police indicators.
When the agents arrived at the scene, the aggressor had fled on foot, abandoning the knife in a nearby trash can. A passerby who saw the events reported it to the police officers, who seized the knife. The steps taken by the police officers allowed the identification and subsequent arrest of the aggressor.
The victim, as a result of the injuries he presented and after undergoing surgery at the José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife, was transferred to the Dr. Negrín Hospital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Once the corresponding police report was prepared, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, who ordered his release with charges. The intervention was carried out by members of the Judicial Police Brigade of the Arrecife Police Station.
