18-year-old arrested for robbery in a house in Puerto del Carmen

The Civil Guard solved the crime by obtaining fingerprints at the scene.

The Judicial Police Team of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise arrested on August 16 a young man of 18 years of age with a criminal record, for stealing in a house in Puerto del Carmen.

The investigation began on August 8, 2021, when the injured person filed a complaint at the Main Post of the Civil Guard of Tías for a crime of robbery with force committed in a house, with a method of climbing and breaking the sliding door. The detainee managed to steal a laptop, a television and a coffee maker. The owners of the house were not inside the day the events happened.

The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Tías in the exercise of its specific functions, requested the collaboration of the Judicial Police Team to carry out the appropriate technical ocular inspection in the house, in which, three fragments of fingerprint emerged, which were photographed and sent to the laboratory of the Organic Unit of Judicial Police of Las Palmas.

However, both the proceedings of the main post of the Civil Guard of Tías and the technical report of the team were filed in the respective units, as there was no known author at that time. Likewise, the agents continued with the appropriate investigations for the location of the alleged perpetrator of the criminal act.

On August 9, 2022, the Organic Unit of Judicial Police of Las Palmas sent the lofoscopic report of the laboratory with the result, whose comparison shows that one of the fingerprint fragments obtained in the ocular inspection corresponds to one of the fingers of the detainee.

Finally, members of the judicial police team began the relevant steps for the location of the alleged perpetrator of the events, proceeding to his arrest.
