Procession and pilgrimage in honor of San Isidro

The town of Uga took to the streets last Sunday to celebrate the procession and pilgrimage in honor of San Isidro Labrador, followed by the performance of the Teguey groups from Lanzarote and Los Sabandeños from Tenerife.

The celebrations of Uga marked the reunion with the patron saint festivities, the first in the municipality after two years of pandemic, and the City Council highlights the participation of the residents of the municipality of Yaiza, and also of visitors from different parts of Lanzarote.

"It was about time" was the recurring phrase in Uga to "externalize the freedom to be able to enjoy again without restrictions", they point out from the Consistory, which celebrates the "very high participation" in the pilgrimage and the "great atmosphere of the whole weekend encouraged by an intense and diverse festive program."

For his part, the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, praises "the excellent organization of all the staff of the Department of Celebrations led by Javier Camacho, always with the support of the town's Festival Committee, the services of the Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection Yaiza and Emerlan and the work of all the people and entities that made possible some endearing celebrations that also ended without incidents."

Prominence for young people, adults and seniors

Uga started the party on Thursday with the artistic group of seniors from Yaiza with a show of interpretation, dance and humor, "a show that captivated a fairground surrendered to the performance and vitality of older residents."

Meanwhile, on Friday the Comic Play-Back Adults Neighbors of Uga took to the stage, full of "tinges of humor" mixed with interpretation and choreography, all related to current issues.

The youngest gala arrived on Saturday with the "talent and energy" of the voices of Verónica Lucía, Alexia and Elieser, from the municipality of Yaiza, and the invited voice of Tahíche, Atenea. Members of the Youth Dance Pop Ballet and the Lanzarote Baila academy of Arrecife also performed.

In addition, after the meeting of orchestras on Saturday morning and the night of young talents that same day, Uga inaugurated the calendar of festivals on the island, being the event with the highest concentration of public of the festivities.

Up to ten members of the Local Police and the Civil Guard, with the support of the aerial surveillance of the Udron Yaiza, ensured citizen security without incidents.

"Uga lived its festivities intensely and Yaiza is already preparing for the arrival in June of the Las Breñas festivities," they point out from the City Council of the municipality.
