The town of Uga celebrated its big day this Wednesday, a festival of adoration to its patron saint, San Isidro Labrador, and did so by participating in the religious service presided over by the parish priest of Yaiza, Jonathan Almeida, and the procession through the central streets of the town, a tour that was supported by devotees and companions and representatives of public administrations, headed by the host mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, and the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort.

On a day so marked by the spirit of celebration, music had to be very present, and the voices of the Yaiza Vocal Group, directed by a daughter of Uga, Nuvi Tavío, came together there in the Eucharist, and then in the pilgrimage, the compositions performed by the Yaiza Municipal Band were heard under the baton of its director Giovanni Noda.

After the celebrations of San Isidro, the mayor of Yaiza thanks "the participation of the people and folk groups, artists and especially the reunion of the Rondalla San Isidro Labrador". Even the homily of the priest was marked by this return to the old ways of musicians and dancers of the town who had not performed for more than thirty years.

The parish priest cited the Rondalla San Isidro Labrador as an example of hope and unity, of desire and perseverance to achieve objectives and be faithful to their principles despite the passage of the years, to interpret the tradition and make life in harmony and in community. The group had already left its mark throughout its trajectory, but these 2024 festivities will be remembered for their exciting reunion that had in the proclamation the flame that ignited its exciting return to the street.

The Yaiza City Council also wants to publicly thank the municipal staff of Festivities led by Councilor Javier Camacho, the residents of the Uga festival commission, all the participating artistic groups, and of course, the work of the Yaiza Local Police, Yaiza Civil Protection, the Red Cross and all the people and entities that collaborated so that the town could enjoy its celebrations at will.
