Invited by the Ekidazu Abesbatza Choir of Bilbao, the members of the San Ginés de Arrecife Polyphonic Choir participated last Friday in the festival organized by the Association for the Promotion of Training and Leisure for Families with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Asperger's in the church of Santa María de Lezama in Bilbao.
The concert began with the performance of the host choir performing a wide Basque repertoire with great interpretive quality that was highly applauded by the audience.
The second part of the concert was for the expedition that arrived from Lanzarote. The San Ginés Polyphonic Choir, directed by Professor José Antonio Elías Roldán, performed a very varied repertoire, beginning with Dindirindín (Renaissance Carol), continuing with Camino del Indio (Popular from Argentina), La voz invicta, América (West side Story), chorus of romantics from Dña. Francisquita, Seguidillas de la Verbena de la Paloma and Sombras del Nublo, among others.
During their performance, the performers received warm applause from the audience and the organizers of the meeting congratulated the Lanzarote representation for the interpretive quality and an impeccable staging.
After the concert, the choristers from both choirs shared a snack where they exchanged how the concert had been carried out and the achievements made in an atmosphere of brotherhood where the Lanzarote representation performed the Anthem of the Canary Islands. During the short stay in the Basque Country, they were invited to visit a winery in Lezama where they were informed about the production of Txakoli, tasting some wines.
The San Ginés Polyphonic Choral Association highly valued the visit to the Basque Country, participating in the festival and sharing with the members of the Ekidazu Abesbatza Choir of Bilbao.
