Famara Water Verbena

Oswaldo Betancort has made a positive assessment after accompanying the residents of La Caleta and La Graciosa in the traditional maritime-terrestrial procession in honor of Our Sacred Heart of Mary, and the subsequent celebration of the water festival on the pier, which brought the La Caleta de Famara festivities to a close, which, fortunately, ended this Sunday, August 28, without any significant incidents.

“It has been an arduous team effort that has been developed with exquisite coordination between all the agents involved, and except for some small, insignificant incident, the caleteros and caleteras, -as well as the thousands of people who visited the town of La Caleta throughout the week and, specifically, this weekend of greater influx-, have been able to enjoy an extensive program designed by the Festival Committee that, I believe, has rescued the most authentic of the seafaring tradition and the customs of these special festivities for Teguise”, Betancort declared.

“On behalf of the Teguise Government group, I extend my most sincere congratulations and gratitude to the Local Police of Teguise, and also to the agents of Arrecife who supported their colleagues, as well as to the Civil Guard, Civil Protection of Teguise and those volunteers who never fail when they are required to ensure the integrity and safety of all the people who wanted to be part of the festivities and have fun without having to regret any misfortune”, added the mayor.

After two intense nights of popular verbena, this Sunday, many devotees gathered in the hermitage of La Caleta to celebrate the solemn mass and subsequent terrestrial-maritime procession in honor of the patron saint with the twinning with La Graciosa. The mayor of Teguise and his entire team accompanied the residents of both towns during the tour enlivened by the Municipal Band of Teguise, Teguiband, to end with the mythical and refreshing water festival with the music of the Banda Nueva orchestra to liven up a mass gathering that once again brought together the youngest, young people, and not so young, on the esplanade of the pier.
