The Arrecife City Council has rescheduled the activities planned for this weekend within the framework of the San Ginés Festivities due to the heat wave. The decision has been adopted after the weather alert decreed by the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, and is protected by the decree signed last night by the mayor on the activities to be carried out in the municipality of Arrecife until the alert concludes.
Thus, both the Parade and the Chola Festival are postponed to August 26, alternatively, although the celebration of the Tribute to Raffaella Carrà will be maintained for tomorrow, Saturday the 12th, starting at 10:00 p.m. in the Charco de San Ginés. Also tomorrow, Saturday, the Parque Islas Canarias will host the Arrecife Port Sailor's Dance from 6:00 p.m. until midnight with the intervention of the Pal Porrón, El Trasmallo and Son de Mar bands, and the Los Jarvac orchestra.
Also, the celebration of the XXIX Triathlon–RCNA 2023 City of Arrecife is postponed until a new date, while the San Ginés Ball Tournament will also delay the start of its second day to be held tomorrow, Saturday, in the municipal courts (South exit of Arrecife, Manolo Millares street).
The Rock Festival is maintained
The rest of the events scheduled for this first weekend of the San Ginés Festivities, which begin today, Friday, with the opening speech and concert offered by the universal artist from Lanzarote and Favorite Daughter of Arrecife, Rosana, starting at 9:00 p.m. on Reducto Beach, remain intact.
Thus, at 8:30 p.m. this Friday, the aforementioned San Ginés Ball Tournament will begin in the municipal courts located on Manolo Millares street, at the exit of Arrecife in the South direction; while tomorrow, Saturday, the performance of the Renacer de La Palma rondalla will take place from the same time in the Charco de San Ginés.
And also this Saturday, August 12, starting at 8:30 p.m., the Arrecife Youth Center (next to the Red Cross headquarters) will host the performance of the bands Faktotum, Azarug, Maléfico and Guerrilla Urbana on the first day of the Rock Festival, which will continue from 6:30 p.m. on Sunday the 13th, on the same stage, with the intervention of Los Iguales, Íntima, Óxido and Infernal Hate.
