The Cabildo of Lanzarote hosted this Wednesday the presentation of the XI International Circus Festival 'MalabHaría', organized by the northern City Council, which will be held from January 2 to 4 with a poster of 15 artists and companies "of first level" that comes to endorse the consolidation of this event.
The event was attended by the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Isaac Castellano, the head of Culture of the first island institution, Óscar Pérez, and the mayor of Haría, Marci Acuña, who thanked the support of the island and regional administrations.
The first mayor recalled that "over the last ten editions more than 50 companies have passed through the stages of Haría, with more than 10,000 people being able to enjoy the circus shows." Acuña, who also highlighted the economic benefits that this type of event brings to the municipality, highlighted the quality of the invited artists, including the Spanish company Tresperté, the German Roxana Küwen or the Spanish Olga Calle, in addition to the closing, which will be given by the Canary Islander Aimé Morales.
For his part, the island councilor for Culture, Óscar Pérez, highlighted the "considerable leap" experienced by the festival, hoping that all expectations will be exceeded again in this edition. Isaac Castellano emphasized the "enormous importance of this festival, which has grown both quantitatively and qualitatively, betting on the use of public spaces", while highlighting the importance of the island's benevolent climate for holding this type of events and urged administrations to promote the organization of various cultural and performing arts events.
