The Cabildo of Lanzarote, presided over by Oswaldo Betancort, announces the opening of registrations for the seventh School Theater Festival, which can be formalized between October 1st and 7th. This cultural, artistic, and educational project is emerging as a unique and transformative experience, celebrating creativity, dialogue, and collective creation among young people from Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
The festival, consolidated over six editions, is a space where participants not only present stage pieces, but also express their concerns, worries, and dreams through the living arts. The Cuerpo Teatro company, together with the Culture area, promotes an artistic and educational event with a non-competitive nature, where the youngest are the references and agitators of the performing arts in their preparation for this edition that will take place from May 13 to 16, 2025, at the Víctor Fernández Gopar Theater “El Salinero”.
Jesús Machín Tavío, Minister of Culture, stated that "The Lanzarote School Theater Festival is an opportunity for young people to explore the performing arts, promoting group cohesion, empathy, and integration. It is shaped as an instrument to transform, communicate, and educate." In addition, the Minister adds that "the Festival is positioned as a powerful tool that transforms, communicates, educates, raises awareness, and cultivates, thus laying a solid foundation for the cultural enrichment of young generations."
An immersive experience
To prepare the young participants, a previous period full of educational and training activities has been designed. With the aim of offering the necessary tools and an environment to enhance expression and collective creation, the School Theater Festival also offers the teacher a prior and certified training where they are provided with the knowledge and advice necessary to immerse themselves in the exciting process of theatrical staging with their students.
The School Theater Festival, in line with its fundamental objectives, seeks to open the doors of artistic and creative expression to young people and the entire educational community.

More than 17,000 spectators in previous editions
During the past year, 2023/2024, a total of eight Lanzarote educational centers participated in the festival, creating their own stage productions. And there were 165 students who acted in the different representations made, always guided by the teachers.
More than 3,500 people, mostly students from 27 educational centers, enjoyed the work of these young artists last year. During the six editions held so far, more than 17,000 people have attended the School Theater Festival as an audience.
