The Culture area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, coordinated by Councilor Alberto Aguiar, has decided to expand the capacity of the Víctor Fernández Gopar “El Salinero” Theater and the Cine Buñuel room of the CIC El Almacén, which will increase from 30%, the figure that both cultural venues maintained until now, to 50% and 45% respectively.
Consequently, the capacity of the El Salinero Theater increases from 173 seats to 296, and that of the Cine Buñuel from 38 to 54 seats.
Regarding the maximum number of seats that cohabiting people could reserve, this will continue to be 4 seats for all shows.
The measure is taken once Lanzarote has entered Phase 2 again and the Holy Week restrictions, which were in force until last Friday, April 9, have ended, and after the publication, by the Government of the Canary Islands, of the new capacity conditions for cultural activities in cinemas, theaters, auditoriums and stable cultural spaces.
Alberto Aguiar himself wanted to clarify the motivations that led the Culture Department to take this measure. “With the return of Lanzarote to Phase 2 and the relaunch of cultural programming since mid-March, we have deemed it appropriate to increase capacity again and reach 50% capacity. We have waited for the lifting of the Holy Week restrictions to do so, and we trust that the health situation will continue to improve and that we can, little by little and with the caution and precaution that the Cabildo has had until now, continue to expand capacity soon,” said the Minister of Culture.
Bubble system
To reserve tickets, the so-called “bubble” system will continue to be used, which allows the viewer to choose any location or group of locations in the stalls and immediately block all the seats around the selected ones.
This format allows the mandatory safety distance between people who do not live together to be automatically maintained. Precisely, Cultura Lanzarote reminds, once again, that only cohabiting people will be able to buy adjacent locations, in order to avoid the transmission of COVID-19.
Security measures to prevent COVID-19
The hygienic and anti-COVID security measures applied so far remain in force, so the use of a mask will be mandatory in all shows, both for events in enclosed spaces and for those held outdoors. Similarly, it is mandatory to disinfect hands with hydroalcoholic gel at the entrance to any of the spaces dependent on Cultura Lanzarote (CIC El Almacén and Teatro Víctor Fernández Gopar “El Salinero”).
All spectators must undergo a temperature check before entering the premises. It will be mandatory to maintain a safety distance of 1.5 meters, both inside and at the time of entry and exit of cultural spaces.
In general, attendees must follow the instructions of the staff of the Culture area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote at all times and it is advisable to arrive well in advance of cultural activities. It will not be possible to access the rooms once the activity has started.
