The Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture will host the conference 'Media and 'Disinformation' next Wednesday, February 1. The presentation will take place at 7:00 p.m. and the speaker is the geographer and historian specialized in the history of communication, Jorge Alberto Liria Rodríguez.
"If there was a time when the journalistic profession is necessary, it is now. It is when manipulation, censorship, whether covert or manifest, the disqualification of the other runs rampant that the strength of an independent and professional media outlet becomes more necessary," says Liria.
"Liria has worked as a journalist both as an editor and head of section of the newspapers Diario de Las Palmas and La Provincia. He has also worked in different communication offices and has collaborated in different national media," say the organizers of the event, the Mercedes Medina Díaz Association.
In addition, Liria has received several awards. "The León y Castillo House Museum, dependent on the Island Council of Gran Canaria, hosted in 2017 an exhibition in which a tour of the career and editorial work of Liria Rodríguez in recent years was carried out. The exhibition featured a total of fifty books from the four imprints promoted by the publisher since 2004," concludes the Association.
